A suspected bank robber was arrested Monday morning, but not before leading authorities on a high speed chase through downtown Laurinburg. Rodney Lane Bartshe, 30, of Greensboro,is accused of stealing more than $5,000 in cash from Carolina Bank in Bennettsville, S.C. “He basically entered the bank and presented a note telling them that he wanted all their money in $100, $50, and $20 bills,” said Lt. Golden King and Queen
Laurel Hill First Baptist Church trustees recently sponsored their first Golden Age Pageant . Participants ranged from mid 60’s to the low 90’s. Robert Pete Smith and Mary David were named King and Queen of the first Golden Age Pageant. The event raised nearly $10,000 to help the Building Fund at Laurel Hill First Baptist. The program also included performances by the BHR Drama Team of Scotland County and Unity Dance Team of Richmond County.
