240 cited in speed campaign
Last week, the state Highway Patrol and Laurinburg Police Department netted more than 240 charges on Scotland County roads in efforts spurred by the Governor’s Highway Safety Program No Need to Speed campaign.
The campaign began on March 25 and focused on reducing speed-related collisions. The Highway Patrol conducted its Operation Slow Down in that time frame, issuing 26,153 citations statewide, including 13,667 speed-related charges.
