Home invasion leaves 1 dead
Two Maxton men are dead following separate and unrelated incidents, according to authorities. Investigators say one man — Willie Manning —was shot and killed during an apparent home invasion on Sunday. The 61-year-old Manning of 135 Stealth Drive, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to sheriff’s Capt. Anthony Thompson. A masked gunman went away empty-handed following a home invasion this weekend. But police investigating the case were a little more successful. While searching the home during the investigation, Laurinburg police say they discovered drugs and arrested two people residing at the home on Saturday.
