With assistance from its K9 unit, the Laurinburg Police Department apprehended three peopel after a Laurinburg woman was robbed at gunpoint in her home last week.
Around 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Kimani Lasha Martin, 17, of Fayetteville , Jawanna Lanae Smith, 19, of 755 Mill Street, and an unnamed juvenile on Thursday broke into the Carver Street home of Martha and Teresa Easterling, according to police.
Using a pistol, the trio robbed the Easterlings at gunpoint, and stole a 32” television, a Wii game system, and a Nintendo DS from the home.
“After they broke into the residence, they robbed the Easterlings of these items at gunpoint in their residence,” said Laurinburg police Lt. Marc Godwin.
The Easterlings were unharmed in the process of the robbery.
The suspects fled on foot and were tracked by the Laurinburg Police Department K9 unit from Marcellus Street, where they had been sighted. The search led to 755 Mill Street, Smith’s home, where the three suspects were hiding with six other people and the property stolen from the Easterlings’ home.
Martin and the unnamed juvenile involved were each charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of breaking and entering, one count of felony conspiracy, one count of assault by pointing a gun, and one count of possession of a handgun by a minor. Martin was placed under a $100,000 secured bond.
Smith was charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of breaking and entering, one count of felony conspiracy, one count of assault by pointing a gun, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Smith was placed under no bond.
