Scotland County Schools’ associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction will step down this month for a job in Richmond County.
Dr. Cindy Goodman worked in Scotland County’s public schools for more than 15 years as a principal before taking the post of associate superintendent in January 2011.
Twice named Scotland County’s principal of the year, she has been principal of Laurel Hill Elementary, I. Ellis Johnson Elementary, and Central School, as well as an assistant principal at Scotland High School.
“We wish Cindy the best,” said Rick Stout, Scotland County Schools’ superintendent. “She has truly been an asset to Scotland County Schools over the last 17 years. Richmond County is getting a true advocate for children and a very knowledgeable and capable leader for their instructional programs.”
Goodman, who resides in Rockingham, will take a similar position in the Richmond County Schools, replacing that county’s outgoing assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. She will begin work there on July 1.
