A Wagram minister was convicted last week on charges of indecent liberties with a minor.

Darryl Todd, 34, was arrested in August 2010 on three counts of statutory rape involving a 14 year old girl.

At the time, he served as minister at Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Wagram, where authorities said he initially made contact with the girl’s family.

“He knew the victim’s father,” said senior Assistant District Attorney Joanna Shober, who prosecuted Todd’s case. “They had initially met at church as a one-time thing, and they continued to have communication through Facebook and texting.”

Todd was convicted on June 11 on three counts of indecent liberties with a child for offenses committed in April and May of 2010. A class F felony, the charge of indecent liberties with a child is a lesser offense than statutory rape, according to Shober.

“I met with the victim and her parents and this was a deposition that they wanted us to do in this case,” Shober said.

Todd was sentenced to a total of 36 months of probation, one year for each charge, and is to schedule 15 days of active prison time during his probationary period.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.

Todd had served as president of the Union for the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Educational Association and was previously pastor of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church of the Freeman Community in Riegelwood. He was also the Middle District Baptist Association director of youth affairs and past chairman of youth evangelism.

That's Scotland County! He would have gotten 10 years if he was caught selling weed just to pay his light bill in the county with the highest unemployment rate in the state. But 36 months probation for MOLESTING a 14 year old. At 14, there is no such thing as consent. Someone please tell me how this makes sense,

You can thank the president for the federal drug policy. That has nothing to do with Scotland Couny and everything to do with the US government's draconian punishment of drug related offenses. Obama has failed us in that respect.

This is ridiculous!!! This young girl was 14! He was a Senior Pastor! Where is the law? It doesn't matter if she wanted it or not! He broke the law! Scotland County is sending the wrong message! Our churches is not a place where we should be worrying about if our kids are safe! I lost all respect for her parents & this court system! What are we teaching the young girl who is going through this who do not agree to it! Parents shame on you! God blessed you with a ddughter & this the behavior you have to protect her! Look at the long pic in this! Whst happens when this child is 30 and she's having problems finding love or even worse she starts to cause harm on all males! This isn't the first time this man Darryl done this! But our court system waits to someone dies to really go after someone! DA then it's to late! You have freed a monster back into this world! I have lost ALL respect for Scotland County!!!!
