A second arrest has been made in last week’s series of shootings, according to authorities.
Shots were fired into a Hickory Street residence on Sept. 21. One of the home’s occupants, the 8-year-old daughter of Krystle Faulk, was hit in the right arm. The child was treated at Scotland Memorial Hospital and released the same day.
On Thursday, Phillip John Graham, 23, of 22281 Bunch Road in Laurel Hill was charged for shooting into Faulk’s home after a vehicle he was riding in was stopped for a drug investigation. During the stop, Graham threw a 45 caliber handgun out of the car and further investigation connected him with the earlier shooting.
According to Godwin, the Hickory Street drive-by was not a random act of violence.
“It’s suspected that there is a connection between the homeowner and Graham,” he said.
Graham was charged with possession with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious injury, and discharging a weapon in the city limits, as well as possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist delay and obstruct, and littering.
Graham was placed in the Scotland County jail under a $65,500 secured bond.
The Faulk shooting followed another earlier that night, when 37-year-old Michael McLean was shot multiple times after exiting Brothers in the Hood Market on Aberdeen Road. Of the two individuals witnessed waiting for McLean that evening, one, a 14-year-old juvenile, was arrested earlier this week. McLean has since been released from the medical facility where he was treated.
Shortly after the Hickory Street shooting, police responded to a call of shots fired on Lincoln Street. Jonathan Murphy, 22, of Laurinburg was found lying lifeless in the front yard of 359 Lincoln Street, with no one else in the area. As of yet, there have been no arrests related to Murphy’s shooting and the case is still under investigation.
As of yet, the three separate shootings have not yet been connected, said Lt. Marc Godwin of the Laurinburg Police Department.
“We still have no evidence that any of them are related at this time,” Godwin said.
