Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Aaron Swamp Baptist Church in Rowland. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his son John Thompson of Whiteville, two daughters: Annie McNeill of Maxton and Retha Hasty of Laurinburg, sister Corene Bostic of Rockingham, brother Carl Thompson of Lumberton, and a host of other relatives.
