Sandra Faye Rice Pierson, 70, of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at her home.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Saint Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. David Blackmon. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium and following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Harold Warren “Stink” Pierson, her daughters Shelia Stanton (Tim) of Holly Springs and Kellie Atwood of Little River, S.C., her brother Jack Rice (Ann) of Laurinburg, her sister Debbie Terrell (Mike) of Farmville, her dog Casey, and her grandchildren Dylan Green of Holly Springs, Allison Green of Greenville, and Madison and Meagan Atwood of Little River.

Sandra was born on April 7, 1942 in Scotland County and was a daughter of the late C. E. “Jack” and Eva Taylor Rice. She was a 1960 graduate of Laurinburg High School and received a degree from Southeastern Cosmetology in Charlotte. For many years she was the assistant manager of the Laurinburg Surgical Clinic and retired from the Scotland County School System.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Sandra loved cooking and entertaining, as she was a “ball of fire,” and made everyone smile when she was around. A charter member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church, she served as vice-president of the Susan Lockey Seekers Circle, the Communion Steward, and was a member of the Tuesday Crafting Ladies.
