William R. "Buddy" Hatcher, 63, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 in Charleston, S.C.

Born in Scotland County on June 14, 1949, he was the son of the late Cleveland Hatcher and Lula Mae Leviner Hatcher. Buddy retired from T.W. Garner Foods in Winston-Salem, where he was a show car manager for the Texas Pete Busch Series race team.

Buddy loved shag dancing at Fat Harold’s, ducks, and enjoyed golf and boating.

Buddy is survived by his daughter Jennifer Hatcher (JT Brown)of King, two sisters: Betty McDaniel of Laurinburg and Peggy McPherson (Dan) of Shallotte, one brother: Pete Hatcher (Carol) of Overland Park, Kan., two grandchildren: Tristan and Emma, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was also preceded in death by his brother Bobby Hatcher.

The family will have a memorial service celebrating his life at the Lakeside Baptist Church, 615 11th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach, SC at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeside Baptist Church.
