The Alltel Wireless retail store in Laurinburg is encouraging the community to help others as it hosts a toy drive this holiday season for Toys for Tots.

The store will act as a drop-off location through Dec. 14.

The Toys for Tots program began in 1947 and is an annual program conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps to collect new toys for needy kids across the country.

To participate, simply go to the Alltel Wireless retail store in Laurinburg at 969 US Hwy, 401 Bypass, Suite A-13, and donate new, unwrapped toys, no matter the number.

The store is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and on Sundays from 12 – 5 p.m.

“Giving back to communities like Laurinburg where our customers and employees live and work has always been important to Alltel Wireless,” said Jillian Braun, Alltel Wireless general manager. “The toy donations will aid the Marine Corps in their tireless charitable endeavor to provide gifts to children during the holidays. We are happy to play a part in making the holiday season a little brighter for some of our less fortunate neighbors. It is our hope that more people will contribute toys if there are more convenient drop-off locations.”
