Respect the rank

Respect is something that most people desire, but the President of the United States, party affiliation aside, is one individual who is most deserving.

The most disrespectful moment towards former President Bush, Jr., was when Kanye West, in an unscripted moment on live TV, ranted his disgust about the former president’s seemingly excruciatingly slow response with providing aid to the Hurricane Katrina survivors. The former president views West’s remarks as, “…one of the most disgusting moments in my presidency.”

Of course, Kanye West is no stranger to disrespect such as when he indecently and uncivilly interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Awards that even President Obama denounced.

Although former President Bush says that Kanye’s remarks were the most disgusting, I deemed the shoe-throwing incident by Iraqi journalist, Muntadher al-Zaidi, as even more disgusting. As a result of hurling the shoes, al-Zaidi was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison. The only positive aspect of this incident was the former president’s brisk agility with avoiding contact with the shoe - a pretty reflexive move similar to a scene from “The Matrix.”

These are two incidents of disrespect, but when I think of how many times the current president has been disrespected, I would run out of column space.

When the Governor of Arizona pointed her finger in his face, I was shocked and had to do a double take at the photo. Apparently, she didn’t take kindly to the president’s inquiry of her account of a meeting at the White House in her book Scorpions for Breakfast. Even as a governor, she felt justified in wagging her finger and not backing down from the Commander-in-Chief.

When South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson yelled, “You lie,” during the president’s health care speech in 2009, it was a boundless display of disrespect.

President Obama’s position has been endlessly repudiated regarding his birth certificate. What other American president was ever made to produce such?

Peter Bella, of The Washington Times, asserts, “There is a long-standing policy and tradition in the military of respecting rank. You do not have to respect the person holding the rank, but you must respect the rank they hold. This includes the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the president.”

The most recent offensive incident or, perhaps, disrespect, if it can ever accurately be figured out, was at the RNC when Clint Eastwood rambled to the empty chair as if it was the president. I am a fan of Clint Eastwood’s body of work, but I wasn’t sure what was happening. I thought he transformed into someone’s centenarian grandfather on the stage having a demented moment.

President Obama, unfortunately, is used to being disrespected and presented with offenses, so the chair incident seemed to be of little concern to him.

A USA Today reporter inquired as to whether or not the president was offended by Clint Eastwood’s empty chair antics. President Obama “said with a smile: “One thing about being president or running for president — if you’re easily offended, you should probably choose another profession.”

I’m sure President Obama has learned to relate to this advice while maintaining his dignity, composure, and limitless “swag.”

"entitlement"..so you are saying that you will NOT respect the following based on your comment:

~Pastor

~Law Enforcement

~PRESIDENT(of anything)

~ALL Elected Officials

I think you need to understand what "entitlement" really means and the respect we should be given those persons!

Respect is earned not given by entitlement. Obama is the "entitlement" president so maybe he believes he is entitled to get respect. Wake up America and let's reward hard work and not fund those who are entitled.

Ms. Jonnerlyn Johnson writes about respect and the lack of same as concerning the former president and the current president. I could find no references to President Bush mocking a political opponent. But mocking political opponents is part of President Obama character. I offer a few examples.

1- The president mocks the Republican convention at the start of a three-day tour of battleground states; 09/02/12-The Fayetteville Observer...headline above the fold.

2-President Obama mocks health care bill opponets and media; 04/07/12. The Washington Times

3-President Obama mocks GOP opponents over energy position, "members of the flat earth society." The Blaze

4-President Obama mocks Romney on "outsourcing" verses "offshoring" in New Hampshire; 06/25/12. The Hill

5-President Obama mocks critics as gas prices go up; 03/06/12. The Heritage Foundation

6-President Obama mocks Romney for calling new fuel efficency standards extreme; 08/29/12. The Hill

7-President Obama mocks Tuesday evening House of Represenatives vote to reafrim "In God WE Trust" as the national motto: 11/02/2001. CNS News

8-President Obama mocks America's christian heritage and degrades our constitution: 07/05/12. MS-NBC

9-President Obama mocks opponents over immigration; 05/10/2011. BBC News

10-President Obama mocks opponents tax plan; 08/06/12. KSDK TV

11-President Obama mocks John McCain for not using computer; 09/12/08. Chicago Sun-Times

About point 11. John McCain's hands, arms and sholders, were so severly crushed by his torture as a North Vietnamese POW, he can't use a keyboard. (During the 2000 election,The Boston Globe and Slate covered this.) It is physically impossible for him.John McCain cannot tie his own tie or brush his own hair. He is a brillent man but cannot lift his arms higher than his elbows. Prior to being totured and having his bones broken repeatedly, John McCain could fly fighter jets.So why did Obama pretend McCain is some doddering buffoon who doesn't understand technology?

A wise man once told me that respect must be earned. I have watched this man for going on four years and I fail to understanding how he deserves respect. One can respect the office and not respect the man who holds the position.

Since Mr.Obama has never worked for a company that must make a profit he has no respect for owners of companies that must worry about the bottom line.

Respect is a two way street. Mr. Obama does not seem to have any respect for any of his political opponents nor business owners and you get what you give.

Obama must go.

Thank you for your time.
