Scotland Memorial Foundation’s gala, Putting on the Ritz, will for the second year feature a car raffle in the foundation’s premier annual fund raising event.

This year, a 2012 Chrysler 200 convertible will be up for the luckiest person to have spent $10 on a ticket. The raffle is sponsored by Scotland Memorial Foundation with assistance from Nic’s Pic Kwik and Scotland Motors.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to have a raffle sponsored by Scotland Memorial Foundation, Nic’s Pic Kiwk, and Scotland Motors,” said Kirsten Dean, Scotland Memorial Foundation executive director. “The additional revenue from the raffle will help us accomplish a number of community health projects. We’re looking forward to an exciting raffle for a wonderful car.”

Last year’s raffle added $17,000 to the total funds raised by the Ritz, which are directed to community programs such as free mammograms and health screenings for individuals with financial concerns, free student sports physicals, and assistance for patients and families who must travel to seek medical treatment.

The car has been parked at the entrance to Scotland Memorial Hospital, and will make its way around the county in the weeks leading up to the Ritz, rotating among Nic’s Pic Kwik locations and First Bank in Laurinburg.

The drawing for the car will take place at the Ritz, which will be held on Nov. 3 on the campus of Scotland Memorial Hospital, but tickets for the car are on sale throughout the county. Ticket holders need not be present to win.

“They’re in lots of locations on this campus and at Nic’s Pic Kwik,” Dean said. “Having them at Nic’s Pic Kwik is great; the people there are going to be wearing buttons that say ‘Ask me how to win this car.’”

In addition to the Scotland Memorial Foundation office and all Nic’s Pic Kwik stores, tickets will also be sold at Downtown Deli, Becca Hughes’ State Farm agency, Wade Dunbar Insurance, Scotland Motors, Art by Design, Hasty Realty, Harley’s Tuxedo, Hair-Itage Styling Salon, Associated Realty, First Bank, Brady’s Flowers, Haney’s Tires, Hogan’s Hair Design, and Shirt Tales. There will also be tickets at Scotch Meadows Country Club, Wade’s Hardware in McColl, S.C., Scotland Health Care Center in Bennettsville, S.C., Marlboro OB/GYN, Maxton Family Practice, Pembroke Family Practice, and Wagram Family Practice.
