The telephone system at the Scotland County Sheriff’s was down for much of Tuesday, officials with the law enforcement agency said.
Officials are hoping the telephone system will be operational today.
Those unable to get through, can dial 277-2580. The 911 system continues to operate.
The sheriff’s office had been unable to receive calls on its normal telephone lines since the system went down. Work to install a new phone system at the department apparently knocked out the system, officials said.
“We apologize for any inconvenience the outage may have caused,” Jones said.
