When Dr. John Nobles decided to bring another doctor to Marlboro Ob/Gyn, only one was the perfect fit.

Over the past 27 years, Nobles has earned a reputation as one of the region’s most highly regarded Ob/Gyns. So when he decided it was time to add another physician to his team, he set the bar high for the new position.

Nobles said Dr. Linda McClain, an Ob/Gyn physician brings a solid reputation for outstanding medical expertise and patient care.

“Dr. McClain brings 22 years of experience along with the kind of dedication, skill and experience that our patients deserve,” Nobles said. “Adding a second physician allows us to have shorter wait times for appointments, plus she’ll be adding some additional services in the practice, such as an in-office procedure for female stress incontinence. I can’t imagine sharing my practice with any other physician. We all at Marlboro Ob/Gyn are very excited to have her on our team. I think our patients will really like her.”

Dr. McClain is also on staff at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

McClain grew up in New Bern. Upon earning an undergraduate degree at East Carolina University she taught physical education and special education in the public schools for five years.

“I decided to change careers because I wanted to work in medicine,” McClain said. “After earning my Doctor of Medicine at the East Carolina School of Medicine, I decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology because I like the combination of patient continuity of care and surgery. I then completed a four year residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.”

McClain owned her own medical practice in Wilmington from 1993 to 2010.

“I’ve been with an ob/gyn practice in Loris for the past two years,” she said. “While there I also did locums work at Scotland Memorial Hospital for a couple of years. When Dr. Nobles began looking for a physician to join his practice I talked with him. There seems to be a need for another ob/gyn physician in the Marlboro County area. I knew of Dr. Nobles’ reputation as a highly regarded physician by patients and the hospital staff so I knew I would enjoy working with him.”

Continuity of patient care is extremely important to McClain, who says that she enjoys seeing her patients year after year. “If one of my patients has a problem I can usually fix it so I find much immediate reward in my field. I believe my past teaching skills are a plus as education is critically important, particularly with my obstetrical patients. I also love sharing the birth experience with my patients. I find that whether it’s birth control, relationships, menopause, or conceiving, I try to weave the education piece into a patient’s appointment.”

McClain’s scope of practice includes C-sections, hysterectomies, major and minor surgical procedures, endometrial oblation to decrease problems with periods, and laparoscopic procedures. “I have an interest in stress incontinence and offer In-office evaluations for the sling procedure to alleviate incontinence. The success and recovery rates of the procedure are very good.”

McClain is an avid reader and beach person. She loves to cook and to travel and has traveled extensively with her daughter – both inside and outside the country.

Marlboro Ob/Gyn is located at 1007 Cheraw Highway, Bennettsville. The practice is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5:00 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 1 pm. Appointments can be made by calling 843-479-8357.
