Mr. Marshall Franklin Smith, 86, of Laurinburg died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Caledonia United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Kelly Barr.

He is survived by his wife Mary Webb Smith, four sons: Marshall F. Smith, Jr., Ira Lee Smith, Bennie G. Smith, and David A. Smith, four daughters: Brenda J. Gibert, Rebecca Dale Stellone, Sharon Lynn Mintz, and Robin Adema, two brothers: Marcus Smith and Bennie Smith, seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by daughter Paulette Marie Mittleman.

Born on Sept. 21, 1926 in Red Springs, he was a son of the late Martin and Della Wright Smith. After his graduation from high school, Marshall entered the military where he served in WWII, the Korean conflict, and the Vietnam War. Marshall retired from the military in 1973 and became an EMT with the Scotland County EMS. He and his wife Mary traveled extensively and especially loved going to the Outer Banks where Marshall could fulfill his love of fishing.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Real sorry to hear about my Uncle Marshall.He was the brother of my mother,Katy Smith White and loved by our family and will be missed.Our prayers are with Marshalls family from Bonnie,Betty and Harry.Love you and God Bless
