Hospice of Scotland County will hold its next volunteer training session Feb. 21-23.

Anyone with an interest in volunteering with Hospice should sign up, said Denise Riggins, director of volunteer services at Hospice of Scotland County.

“We are always looking for members of the community who are able to donate some of their time,” Riggins says. “It takes a committed group of volunteers with a wide range of talents to keep our organization running smoothly. We encourage anyone who is interested in giving back to the community to sign up for our volunteer training course.”

Training will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Feb. 21 and Feb. 22, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 23. Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions, which will be held at Hospice of Scotland County’s office, 610 Lauchwood Drive, Laurinburg. The program answers prospective volunteers’ questions and helps them identify areas within the organization where they can contribute, Riggins says.

“Some people are interested in serving as patient care volunteers, while others are more comfortable answering the phones, helping with office work or organizing a fundraising project.”

Space is limited, and participants must register beforehand.

To register for the volunteer training, or for questions, contact Riggins at Hospice of Scotland County at (910) 276-7176, or e-mail her at driggins@scothosp.org. To learn more about being a Hospice volunteer by visiting www.scotlandhospice.org, and clicking on the “Our Volunteers” link.
