Authorities are searching for a suspect in a Laurinburg armed robbery Thursday night that left a store clerk injured, according to police.
At 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, a masked subject entered the Shop and Win Dollar Store at 1104 South Main St. The store was open for business at the time, although no other customers were on the premises and only one clerk was on duty.
The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, according to Lt. Cliff Sessoms of the Laurinburg Police Department. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen, as well as the clerk’s cell phone and the business phone.
The suspect struck the clerk in the head with the weapon and locked him in a room before fleeing the scene. The clerk suffered a “minor laceration” and was able to escape from the locked room shortly.
Police are searching for the suspect, who has been identified as 28-year-old Deangelo Terry of Ashley Drive. Anyone with information regarding Terry’s whereabouts should contact the Laurinburg Police Department at 276-3211.
