About Althea

Althea Simpson serves as General Manager/Advertising Manager of the Laurinburg Exchange. She has been with Heartland Publications since March 2008, serving as Advertising Manager of the Exchange through December 2008 and then as Advertising Manager at the Sampson Independent in Sampson County until her return to the Exchange in September 2011. Prior to joining Heartland, Simpson was with the Wilson Times in Wilson for over 12 years, filling positions as reporter and section editor in the newsroom as well as special sections manager and retail advertising advisor in the advertising department. She is a graduate of Barton College with degrees in English and Studio Art/Graphic Design. We have the ability to place your ad in any Heartland Publications paper. One order - one bill.

Scott Witten serves as editor of The Laurinburg Exchange. He has been with the newspaper since 2007. Witten had been with our sister newspaper, The Robesonian since 1988, where he held a number of positions, from staff reporter to senior reporter to managing editor. A native of Hampton, Va., Witten attended Douglas Byrd High School and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He served as editor of the UNCP campus newspaper, The Pine Needle, for two years.

Mary Katherine Murphy is a reporter in the newsroom of the Laurinburg Exchange. A graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Murphy has been working at the Exchange for six months. She is a general assignment reporter, whose beats include crime, courts and education.

Johnny is a reporter in the newsroom of the Laurinburg Exchange. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Woodard's assignment areas include county government, religion and non-profits.

Nancy Terry is the Legal/Classified Sales Representative & Front Desk Receptionist for the Laurinburg Exchange. Nancy joined the Exchange in the fall of 2011. Prior to joining the Exchange staff, Nancy has worked part time since 2006 the as a cashier with Nic's Pic Kwik of Laurinburg.
