RCC thanks bond supporters

To the editor:

On behalf of Richmond Community College Board of Trustees, employees and over 3,300 students, I want to thank the voters of Scotland County for the overwhelming support of the Connect NC bond in Tuesday’s election. Your support is an investment in the future of our college, our students and our community.

Now the real fun and the real work begins. There is tremendous energy and enthusiasm on campus as folks are asking when we will start construction on the expansion of the Morgan Center, which will nearly double the size of the Honeycutt Center, our Laurinburg campus. With the growth of this campus, we will be able to offer more programs and better serve Scotland County residents. I look forward to the transformation of this campus as these projects take shape.

This is an historic and exciting time for our college. As we move forward, I am reminded that it is not the brick and mortar that make RichmondCC special. It is the dedicated employees who care deeply about our students. It is the leadership provided by our Board of Trustees members who give of their time, energy and resources. It is each student who has the courage to learn and become something new, different and better. The new additions to our campus will make a huge and needed difference, but without the students, employees and Board, it’s just cold, empty steel and concrete. So thank you all for making this a college worth building and growing and one worthy of this great community. I am honored to be the president of Richmond Community College.

William D. McInnis
