WEST POINT, Ga. — The St. Andrews University women’s basketball team continued their hot start to the season by remaining undefeated with their first conference win, 73-67 over Point University on Wednesday night.
Senior forward Natia Gasque again led the Lady Knights with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting while also contributing nine rebounds and two massive blocks to help keep the Knights undefeated at 3-0. This is the Knights best start to a season and most consecutive wins since 2006 when they were 5-1.
The Lady Knights got out to a 32-25 lead at halftime as they held the Skyhawks to 21 percent shooting in the first half. SAU would then shoot 42 percent in the second half as they put up 41 points, their second-most points in any half this season, while holding Point to 26 percent shooting for the game.

The SAU men’s basketball team also played Point on Wednesday, but had a different result. The Knights dropped their first conference game of the season to Point University Wednesday night by a score of 77-63.
The Knights got off to a good start as they led by nine points after the first five minutes of play, but then Point began to hit their shots as they crept back into the game by shooting 47 percent in the first half on their way to a 12-point halftime lead. The Knights struggled shooting their outside shot as they went 0-for-7 on three-pointers in the first half and then could only muster one three in the second half. On the other hand the Skyhawks shot 6-for-9 on threes in the first half which catapulted them back into the lead. Point cooled off a bit in the second half but still shot an impressive 47 percent from behind the arc in the game.
SAU was led by junior forward Marko Zjacic, who scored a team-high 15 points and had nine rebounds and two assists as well. Freshman forward Nathaniel Pittman had 10 points and nine boards but fouled out towards the end of the game. Knight guard Aaron Smith also was in double-figures with 12 points and four rebounds.
