Crime report for Jan. 4

LAURINBURG — Richard Smith, 51, of Pea Bridge Road in McColl, S.C., was arrested during an investigation on Ivy Street and charged by citation for open container and a felonious parole violation, according to a police report. Smith was later placed in the Scotland County Jail and held without bond.
LAURINBURG — Sparkle Bingham, of Fayetteville Street, reported Friday morning that someone she knew came into her house and stood over her as she slept, according to a police report.
LAURINBURG — Janice Stuckey, of Raleigh Street, reported on Thursday that someone broke into her vehicle that was parked on South Caledonia Road, at Franklin Chapel AME Zion Church, and stole $600 cash, according to a police report. Stuckey told officers she noticed that her car door was unlocked and partially open as she approached it and found that items in her purse were scattered inside in the vehicle.
LAURINBURG — Joy Simmons, of Charles Drive, reported Friday that someone stole a vehicle from her home, according to a police report. The vehicle, a white Ford Expedition, is worth about $8,000.
LAURINBURG — The City of Laurinburg’s power company reported Thursday that someone cut a wire that ran from one house to another one nearby on Maple Street, according to a police report.
LAURINBURG — It was reported on Thursday that someone damaged a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was parked at Jerry’s Deli and Grill on Hasty Road, according to a police report. Someone cut the driver’s side convertible top and caused about $1,800 damage.
