A call to local columnists
By Abbi Overfelt
Attention all elected officials, town, city or county administrators, nonprofits, businesspeople and residents who dabble in the written word: we want to hear from you, and on a regular basis.
As a part of a company-wide effort to trim down the amount of syndicated columns that appear on the Opinion pages of the hundreds of newspapers owned by Civitas Media, The Laurinburg Exchange is seeking contributing writers from across the Scotland County community. Authors are invited to write about a number of topics — from politics to religion, business, cooking or technology. All we ask is that they appeal to a broad audience and the Scotland community as a whole.
Columns can be written in first-person, or not. They can be very conversational and colloquial, funny or serious. If you’ve got something to say, we want to hear it, and at least on a monthly basis. If you can spare an hour or two to sit down and type out at least 400 words, please do. All we’ll need is a photo, your name and your title if you have one, and your hometown. Don’t worry if you’re not the best writer — we’ll edit.
Interested? Send an email to Abbi Overfelt at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 910-276-2311, ext. 12, and she’ll get you the details.
We look forward to hearing from you.
