Do you think teachers should be paid based on merit or experience?

“Teachers should be payed on experience. New teachers that come along always have that zeal, but how long will that zeal last? Teachers that have taught longer know about classroom management and have more skills.”

— Ronnie McGirt

“It should be based on merit. Those teachers go above and beyond. Just because a teacher has been there for a long time doesn’t mean they do the same.”

— Monique McLeod

“It should be based on what they do for the students and how they teach.”

— Jennifer Leviner

“Merit. If they put in the effort to help children succeed then they should get paid more for it.”

— Kristina Williams

“Some teachers who have been in the school system for so long are burt out. The purpose of education is for kids to learn, if teachers are paid based on merit then that will encourage teachers to actually teach.”

— Lakisha Malachi
