Festival - Cypress Bend Vineyards will hold its 9th annual Fall Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp at 6 p.m. The free event will feature live music, vendors, wine, grape stomping and picking.

Cooking demonstration - Tony and Blair Locklear, of the Gill House restaurant, will be holding a cooking demonstration at 9 a.m. at the Scotland County-Laurinburg Farmer’s Market. The two will be cooking on-site with fresh, local ingredients and offer free tastings on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Reverse mortgage workshop - The Cumberland Community Action Program will present a free reverse mortgage workshop on Sept. 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the Scotland Place Senior Center.
Business mixer - Scotland Health Care System and The Laurinburg-Scotland County Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours to introduce Dr. Mary Catherine Moree. Aquaponics demo -Davon Goodwin and Noran Sanford, of Growing Change, a sustainability program that works with at-risk youth, will present a demonstration on aquaponics, a food production system that combines raising edible plants and animals in a symbiotic environment. The demonstration will be held at the Scotland County-Laurinburg Farmer’s Market.
Conference - Women after God’s Own Heart Agency will hold its annual Women’s Conference — “Don’t Count Me Out!” — at the Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast at 131 S. Main Street in Laurinburg from Sept. 23 to Sept. 29. The focus of the conference is to help those who have been hurt in any area of their life.
On Sept. 23, the guest minister will be Evangelist Essie Davis; on Sept. 24, Pastor Shirlene Davis; on Sept. 25, Pastor Joann Davis; on Sept. 26, Minister Janet Baber and on Sept. 27, Prophetess Ruby Mitchell. The event begins at 7 p.m.each day.
On Sept. 28, Evangelist Devita White will speak at 9 a.m., a lunch will be offered at noon and Elder Tabitha Burk will speak at 7 p.m.
A free gospel singing will round out the conference on Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. Groups include The Wells Family, Sandy Grove Male Choir, Allen Chapel Church Choir, St. John’s Holiness Church Choir, Psalmist Carolyn Allen and Psalmist Twila Thompson.

Surgery talk - Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Paul Rush will present an overview of surgical and non-surgical joint pain treatment options and computer-assisted surgery at 6 p.m. at The Skye, 210 E. main St. Bennettsville. Golf tournament - The Scottish Pilot Club’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament, named after the late Barbara Hasty Sasseen, a charter member of the Scottish Pilot Club of Laurinburg, will be held at Scotch Meadows Country Club.
Sign-ups start at 9 a.m. and a shot-gun start is set for 10 a.m. A breakfast of biscuits, fruit and coffee will be served. There will be an Awards Luncheon following play.
The format is four-person teams, of either or both men and women, two-low net best balls with 75 percent handicap. Door prizes will be awarded and a competition will be held for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
The entry fee is $60 per player or $160 for Eagle Sponsor. Checks should be made payable to the Scottish Pilot Club, P.O. Box 2223, Laurinburg, NC 28353. Proceeds fund the club’s annual projects and charitable donations.

GED classes - Partners In Ministry will be hosting free GED Classes beginning Sept. 9. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 am to 12 pm. Classes will take place at The Center at 12 Third St., East Laurinburg.
Hospice support - Hospice of Scotland County will offer two support groups for widows. The groups will be offered free of charge and are available to any woman who has experienced the loss of a spouse, regardless of whether or not they were served by hospice. One group will hold its first meeting at 10 a.m. on Sept. 10 at the Scotland County Memorial Library, at 312 W. Church St., Laurinburg. The next group will meet for the first time at 5:30 p.m., Sept. 12 at the hospice administrative building at 610 Lauchwood Dr., Laurinburg.
Laurinburg Farmers’ Market - The Laurinburg Farmers’ market starts at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 1 p.m. every Saturday in the AB Gibson Center parking lot on Main Street. The market will be closed on Labor Day weekend. The effort ends this year on Oct. 6.

Masons meeting- Laurinburg Masonic Lodge 305 AF& AM meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Masonic Lodge at the corner of McLean and Atkinson streets. The meeting begin at 7:30 p.m., but on the the first Tuesday dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.
