LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews University Theatre Program will be hosting a Play in a Day/24 Hour Theatre Project March 21 and March 22.
“Writers, actors and directors are gathered together and within a 24 hour window the groups must write, direct and perform a short 10-15 minute production,” said Chris Wood, project director for St. Andrews. “It is challenging but a lot of fun and a great experience.”
The gathering will start at 8 p.m. on March 21 in the Morris Morgan Theatre of the University campus. Individuals wiling to serve as writers, actors and directors are teamed together randomly for their project. They work throughout the next 24 hours to prepare the plays for the public. The performances begin at 8 p.m. on March 22 in the Morris Morgan Theatre.
“We did this a couple years back and it was a big success,” said Wood. “We want to make this one even bigger and to do that we are looking to the community.
“I warmly invite anyone from the community who is interested in being involved in the writing, acting or directing as part of our Play in a Day to contact me to register,” said Wood.
Those interested are asked to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request the registration form no later than March 7.
