HAMLET — Richmond Community College awarded 110 scholarships totaling more than $106,000 to 170 students during its annual scholarship reception and banquet on Feb. 25 at the Cole Auditorium.
The scholarship recipients were recognized during the awards ceremony and were given the opportunity to meet donors to thank them for their generosity in helping defray the cost of tuition and textbooks.
RCC President Dr. Dale McInnis spoke during the ceremony, recognizing members of the Board of Trustees and the RCC Foundation Board of Directors for their support of the College. He also applauded faculty and staff for their efforts to help RCC’s students achieve success.
“We are awarding 110 scholarships, and each one of these scholarships requires two components, the first being a trusting and generous donor; the second being a hard working and deserving student,” McInnis said.
McInnis said RCC has many working students, but because of their efforts to help themselves and support their families, many are ineligible for federal financial aid because of their income. To assist these students, the RCC Foundation has developed the Working Scholarship for employed students.
