LAURINBURG — Thirty-two people received citations or misdemeanor charges during a five-hour traffic checkpoint on Friday night, according to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
The checkpoint, set up near the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and Old Wire Road as part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, also resulted in three outstanding warrants being served, two for worthless checks and one for assault, according to sheriff’s Capt. Scott Jacobs.
A total of 14 officers from five agencies worked the checkpoint, Jacobs said. Participating agencies included the sheriff’s office as well as the Laurinburg, Pinehurst and Rockingham police departments and the state highway patrol.
