LAURINBURG — A traffic stop Saturday on Creed Road led to the arrest of a Laurinburg man for having illegal substances in his vehicle, according to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.

Kennedy Locklear, 52, of 21740 Wagram Road, was charged with felonious possession schedule II, misdemeanor simple possession of schedule VI and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Scotland County jail and held under a $10,500 secured bond.

“Mr. Locklear had been drinking,” Sheriff’s investigator Jamie Laviner said.

Laviner searched the vehicle and found .10 grams of cocaine and 4.60 grams of marijuana in Locklear’s possession.

Officers seized about $25 worth of possible marijuana cigarettes along with devices that may have been used for smoking marijuana and a possible third drug.

Laviner said the items seized were sent to the N.C. crime lab in Raleigh to be further analyzed.
