LAURINBURG — It’s not every day that the Laurinburg Police Department receives a simple thank you for their services, but someone shared a little Christmas cheer on Monday.

“This is not a tip on crime…but a heartfelt thank you to police department,” read a letter sent to the department by Kaycee Murdaugh.

Murdaugh sent the letter through the Laurinburg Police Department’s website as a comment which was later forwarded to the captain, assistant chief and chief.

The letter continues:

“Dear Chief Williams, my daughter broke down on exit 183 for E. Laurinburg with two small children … the rain had caused her belt to slip off. Your officer on duty … was very cordial and helpful with my concern about the situation since I was in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where I live. Your motto of serving and protecting went the extra mile when they sent someone out to check on them in the dark. I can never thank you enough for your kindness.”

Many of the officers at the police department, said Lt. R. Snipes, were “proud, humbled and honored” to hear about the letter. Snipes said that he was happy to see such positive feedback about the police department and appreciated the kind words.

“The Laurinburg Police Department is always grateful when people take the time to commend officers regarding the services they provide,” Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms said.
