LAURINBURG — An employee of Papa John’s Pizza at South Main Street was arrested on Sunday for stealing about $500 from the business, according to the Laurinburg Police Department.
Vanessa McLean, 31, of Boykin Lane was charged with larceny by employee and placed in the Scotland County Jail under a $2,000 bond.
Officer Zachary Van Horn responded to Papa John’s and he spoke to Daniel Cullen, director of operations, who said that he noticed several transactions “zeroed out.” After looking through the security video footage in the building, he said that he saw McLean take money out of the register and place it in her pocket.
Cullen called McLean into the office and, after speaking with her, Van Horn escorted her to his patrol car. He then transported her to the police department to conduct an interview.
