LAURINBURG — Scotland County residents will on Saturday have a chance to dispose of any unwanted prescriptions lest they fall into the wrong hands.

Operation Medicine Drop will be at the Laurinburg Walmart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Disposals can be done anonymously, with no questions asked.

Since 2010, over 1000 sites have collected over 30 million dosage units of medication during take back events statewide.

Operation Medicine Drop is an effort coordinated by North Carolina Department of Insurance, Safe Kids North Carolina, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Riverkeepers of North Carolina and local groups to prevent accidental poisonings, substance abuse and protect our waters.
