SOUTHERN PINES — Calli Brielle McIntyre, of Wagram, was crowned Miss North Carolina Jr. High School America 2015 on Aug. 9 at Pinecrest High School. Calli will represent North Carolina at the national Miss High School America Pageant, to be held in Disney World on July 2015 in Orlando, Fla.
There, she has the opportunity to win a $10,000 scholarship as well as a free global educational travel experience sponsored by the People to People Student Ambassador Program.
Calli, an eighth grader at the O’Neal School, is active within the community and hopes to promote B.R.A.V.E. — Building Respect and Values for Everyone — the official national platform and anti-bullying campaign of the Miss Jr. High, High School, and Collegiate America Organization. In the short time since her crowning, McIntyre has read anti-bullying books to elementary school students and has delivered donated food to the Aloha Safari Zoo in Cameron, which houses injured or donated animals.
Calli took the crown by finishing first in the competition in interview, evening gown and fun fashion wear. She also won the overall interview and overall evening gown award for the entire pageant consisting of Jr. High, High School, and Collegiate contestants.
