LAURINBURG — Staff at Sycamore Lane Middle School spread Christmas cheer throughout the cafeteria Tuesday in what Maudie Parsons, cafeteria manager, said was “a special tribute for students.”

When the cafeteria staff decorated the cafeteria for Thanksgiving a few weeks ago a female student came up to Parsons and complimented her on “how pretty” everything was. In the center of the room were a few tables reserved for parents and teachers to sit and eat their lunches but the rest of the tables where the students usually sat were not decorated.

“Everyone is important,” Parsons said.

Parsons, with the help of her fellow cafeteria staff, decorated the student’s lunch tables with placemats and handmade centerpieces that she and members of the staff created themselves.

They also put up wreaths and lights all around the room and adorned a Christmas tree with ornaments that the staff brought from home.
