LAURINBURG — A lucky guest at the upcoming Putting on the Ritz, could win a car, a four-wheeler or a whole lot of cash.

Organizers for the 22nd annual gala are already encouraging people to register for a raffle that will be held during the black-tie affair planned for Nov. 7. on the Scotland Memorial Hospital campus.

For the price of a $10 ticket, you can win your choice of a Smart car, a John Deere Gator four-wheeler or $10,000 in cash.

Proceeds go to community health programs at the Scotland Health Care System. Last year, the event brought in more than $180,000.

“Last year, some of the money went toward the Scotland Mile Fit Trail,” said Stephanie Tatum, the marketing assistant at Scotland Health Care System. The trail is a 1-mile loop with different stations for exercise activities.

There will also be a silent and live auction where people can bid on donated items including food, jewelry, apparel, furniture and travel packages.

The Putting on the Ritz — A Gala of Giving begins at 6 p.m. and will be held under a 14,800-square-foot tent on the hospital campus.

“It looks just like a ballroom, it’s pretty amazing,” Tatum said.

About 425 people attended last year’s event and organizers are anticipating even more guests this year. Registration is $250 per person or $500 per couple.

The campus will be filled with gourmet food and live entertainment. This year’s band is the same as last year, Mr. Potato Head from Raleigh.

“The tables are set up really elegantly, they have a band, the food is out of this world. They have amazing chefs that prepare this food,”she said. “It’s pretty amazing what goes into it.”
