SAN ANTONIO — Laurinburg native Major Aaron B. Banks was recently promoted to lieutenant colonel. The promotion ceremony was held at Air Space Command Joint Base San Antonio in Lackland, Texas.

Banks is currently the Commander of the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron at the Joint Base San Antonio. He leads 300 military, civilian and contractors who are responsible for defending more than 870,000 Air Force unclassified and classified systems valued at $10 billion.

He also manages the maintenance of the $535 million Air Force Cyber Defense weapon system.

Banks entered the Air Force in 2001 as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He is the son of Dr. Carolyn Banks and Arthemas Banks of Laurinburg.
