Suspected drugs dealers set to go to Scotland court

LAURINBURG — Two men arrested earlier this month on drug charges are set to be in court on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Charles Sessoms of the Laurinburg police said the “big drug bust” occurred on July 1 when officers conducted a traffic stop.

Sessoms said a large quantity of oxycodone, cocaine, crack and ecstasy seized during the stop.

The driver of the vehicle, Shavonte McBryde, 26, Ashley Drive, was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of MDA, or methylenedioxyamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of schedule two controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The passenger Drece McMullen, 34, Rock Hill, South Carolina was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver MDA, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of schedule two controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McBryde and McMullen were each jailed under $500,000 secured bond.

McBryde has a court date in September for separate charges that include simple possession of schedule four controlled substance, reckless driving to endanger, flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle and assault on a female as well as manufacture, sell, deliver, possess controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
