LAURINBURG — The Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center of Scotland County is currently looking for volunteers to serve on its board of directors.
The center has several long-standing members rotating off at the end of June and is in need of new members, according to Beth Taylor, center director.
Taylor said it would be helpful if those interested had experience with non-profit boards and are familiar with budget planning, Quickbooks, fundraising, and recruitment.
“We need folks from diverse areas with strong ties to our community, members of civic groups, school organizations, all denominations of churches, and the LGBT community,” she said.
The nonprofit center provides counseling, support groups, court advocacy, community education and outreach, referrals, a crisis hotline, and a temporary emergency shelter for those who are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. The center was established in 1996.
