LAURINBURG — Scotland High School students will be released early from school on Wednesday because of temperatures are expected to reach the high 80s and the school is int he process of replacing a chiller that provides air conditioning to Buildings 2 and 3 at the school.
“Because of the warm temperatures expected and because we want to ensure that our students and staff have a safe and comfortable learning environment, we will be releasing all Scotland High School students at 1 p.m.,” the school system said in a statement released late Tuesday.
All after-school activities and games will continue on their regular schedule.
Only students at Scotland High School will be released early.
“We will continue to monitor the weather and how it effects the temperatures inside our buildings as well as monitor the progress of the chiller replacement and make additional announcements if necessary,” officials said.
The chiller is expected to be replaced by the end of the week.
