LAURINBURG — Two Laurinburg residents have been charged in a deadly home invasion in St. Pauls last year, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Rodney Kirk Murphy was killed in the Sept. 28 robbery, and three people were seriously injured.
Carson Bernard Brown, 27, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Piggly Wiggly in Laurinburg and charged with first-degree murder for Murphy’s death and two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Brown, of Carver Street in Laurinburg, was denied bond on the murder charged and given a $320,000 bond for the robbery charges.
Robeson County Sheriff Sealey said the home invasion is still under investigation and more people could be arrested.
Quatrell Damar Nicholson, 25, Laurinburg, was arrested last week by police in Greensboro on warrants issued in October by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
He was charged with first-degree murder; assault with a dangerous weapon; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury; four counts of armed robbery; and seven counts of kidnapping.
Three other people were seriously injured during the home invasion, which occurred at 3354 Shaw Road. Leila Marie Brooks, a resident of the home, was beaten with a pistol; Horace Jamal Glover Jr., of Britt Road in St. Pauls, was shot in the stomach; and John Lydell Bullard, of Victoria Drive in Parkton, was shot in the hand.
