Democrats to discuss get-out-the-vote

LAURINBURG — The Democratic Party will host the 8th U.S. Congressional District Executive Committee meeting in Laurinburg on Nov. 21.

The meeting will be held at the Scotland County Courthouse at 212 Biggs St. Registration starts at 1 p.m.with the session beginning at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

Get-out-the-vote plans and the introduction of potential candidates are at the top of the agenda. Professor Gene Nichol of the N.C. Poverty Research Fund will speak about the problems facing rural families.

“I am happy that the 8th Congressional District is coming to Laurinburg and bringing along poverty advocate Gene Nichol,” said Laurinburg native and 8th District Minority Affairs Chair John Easterling. “There are many concerns facing minorities in rural North Carolina, and I’m glad the district is bringing these concerns back to the conversation.”
