LAURINBURG — Red is is vibrant and auspicious. It is color that attracts attention.

Laurinburg native Shirley McNair hopes that is the case with her new apparel shop — the Red Door Boutique.

“In feng shui, red means good luck and wherever I’ve lived, I always had a red door,” McNair said.

The Red Door Boutique is located at 1779 S. Main St.

McNair, a retired clothing executive who spent more than 28 years with Macy’s, said the shop will offer hand-selected clothing and accessories for men, women and children.

“It is not a consignment store,” she said. “It is new and slightly used clothes that I’ve gotten from different areas of the county, including places like California,Virginia and New York.

Because the store is a boutique, it will sell a limited amount of each product and frequently add new items, McNair said.

“Nothing is duplicated,” McNair said.

The shop will offer plenty of designer labels from Armani and Michael Kors to Dooney Bourke and Coach, according to McNair. Prices will range from $10 t0 75.

“We have a lot of great men’s shirts, for example that were once selling for $125, but are now $40 in my shop,” she said. “The quality is high, but the prices are very reasonable.”

The boutique also sells home decor items.

The Red Door will host a grand opening on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitors will have a chance to win a 32-inch television.

Store hours are Tuesdays through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“I’ve lived in California for more than 30 years, but it was always my plan to come back to Laurinburg. And here I am.”

You can reach the store at 323-445-5161.
