Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin recently gave his State of the State speech. This speech received very little national press.

The reason why I am writing about Walker’s speech is because he proclaimed that the state of Wisconsin had a surplus of over 900 million dollars. Yes, a surplus. This is Scott Walker’s first term and he has brought his state a surplus.

Many of the Wisconsin law makers wanted to take this money and spend it. In Walker’s speech he said this is the people’s money and he will return the money to the citizens in property and income tax reductions.

Regardless of one’s political affiliations, isn’t this refreshing for a government to: No. 1, have a surplus and No. 2, not spend it? Our current governor and legislators should visit Wisconsin and see firsthand how a governor can turn the state’s economy and produce a surplus. Our president likes to fly across the country. He and his advisors could stop in the Dairy State and meet with Walker to understand what Wisconsin is doing to improve their economy.

I know my above mentioned recommendations will be ignored because of politics and egos. I just wanted to acknowledge that surpluses, lower taxes and improved economic conditions can be achieved. It is not a fairly tale, it is happening in Wisconsin.

Congratulations to Walker and his team.
