To the editor:
Our community needs to thank our school board for the time and effort spent in meeting to address our public educational needs. Such clear-eyed, common sense as they show is a much-needed antidote to the heated political churning going on in Raleigh under the guise of “helping our children.”
The greenness of teachers, and the lack of incentives for good, experienced teachers to stay in the classrooms was identified as a problem. Funding, or the lack of it, raised its ugly head, and I am sure will continue to be addressed. I was most proud and pleased by their unanimous rejection of Raleigh’s efforts to scrap the “Common Core” standards after only two years and millions spent to implement it. The state legislature continues to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic! School board, continue to lead the initiative to stop them!
