Parties should be civil when arguing points
To the editor:
Two recent articles in the Laurinburg Exchange require a response if some of us still believe in civility, honesty and truth. One of the headlines read “Tea Party defeat needed” and the other “Cheap tickets for Cruz Carnival.” I will not repeat what was said, but if one agrees with the writers or not, the reader should recognize that these articles are written with much hate for the political opposition and facts are totally ignored. When hate plays into a writer’s opinion then civility, honesty and truth are abandoned and rational thinking no longer exists. How can we as a country survive if an opposing view by a political party is no longer worth honest discussion but treated only as obstructionist and lies? It used to be that differences where discussed and problems were resolved. Now one party is trying to dominate the political landscape acting like dictators of the 1930’s.
Let us not believe everything we hear and read but look for the truth in all of it without byes.
Lets remember the word of Martin Luther King Jr: “Ye shall know the truth and the truth will set you free”.
