LAURINBURG — A Laurinburg man was arrested Tuesday after stabbing an 18-year-old in the stomach on Bizzell Street, according to the Laurinburg Police Department.
Marta Campbell, 29, of 62181 Airbase Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Scotland County detention center and held under a $60,000 secured bond.
It was reported that Campbell had an altercation with 18-year-old George Mitchell, of Bizzell Street, around 1 a.m on Tuesday.
“Mr. Campbell stabbed Mr. Mitchell in the abdomen twice,” said Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms.
Mitchell was transported by ambulance to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where hospital officials say he is in good condition.
Campbell was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries he suffered during the altercation. After he was discharged, Campbell was placed under arrest.
