Scotland welcomes first baby of the New Year
Special to the Exchange
LAURINBURG — Trinika Cameron thought it would be more than a week before her baby’s arrival, but just three hours after the New Year’s Eve ball dropped she was in labor and on her way to Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Jaden Avery Lewis was born at 10:05 a.m. on Jan. 1, making him Scotland Memorial’s first baby of 2014. Jaden weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and is 20 inches long. Jaden’s father is Justin Lewis.
Jaden is Trinika’s third son. Waiting at home for their new brother are Jeremiah Cameron, 5, and Quindarius Cameron, 7.
Trinika lives in Maxton, where she works at Walgreens. She says she is delighted with her beautiful son and that God has blessed her.
Being the first baby of the new year isn’t just a title for baby Jaden. The staff of the Women’s Center at Scotland Memorial will celebrate his birth by showering mother and baby with gifts as she leaves the hospital to take her new baby home.
