LAURINBURG — Hospice of Scotland County will offer helpful meal preparation tips for single households on Aug. 28, during a workshop titled “Cooking for One.”
Co-sponsored by Hospice of Scotland County and the Scotland County Cooperative Extension Office, the workshop is free and runs from 4-6 p.m.
Participants will learn about the nutritional value of different types of foods, how to make healthy choices for each meal, and helpful tips on stocking the kitchen pantry, refrigerator and freezer with foods that are easy for one person to prepare.
“Cooking for one person can be hard to do,” said Tanya Williams, bereavement coordinator at Hospice of Scotland County. “It can be difficult to find the motivation to prepare something healthy just for yourself. This is a chance for people to learn about the things they can keep on hand that are easy to prepare while also maintaining a healthy diet.”
Anyone planning to attend the workshop should preregister no later than Aug. 25 by calling Williams at 910-276-7176.
