LAURINBURG — North Laurinburg Elementary had a ‘minion’ reasons to love reading night this week.

The Family Reading Night included staff dressing up as characters from Minions, a 2015 American 3D computer-animated family comedy film that served as as a prequel/spin-off to the Despicable Me franchise.

Parents had the opportunity to visit their child’s class and see how Daily 5, the district’s kindergarten through fifth-grade reading program, works in the classroom.

“Parents got to see the innovative way our elementary classrooms are set up and how the program is used to encourage highly engaged students who are developing a true love of literacy,” said Meredith Bounds, public information officer for the school system.

Afterwards a hot dog dinner was provided to students, parents and staff.
