LAURINBURG — Laurinburg Deputy Police Chief Charles Sessoms said there has been a rash of car break-ins in the past couple of weeks in the Long Leaf and Cotton Drive areas in the south end of town.

There has been approximately seven break-ins in that area with various items stolen.

“We advise people to -please lock your cars. Don’t leave valuable items inside your vehicle at night,” said Sessoms.

Some of items taken were loose change, watch, jewelry and copper bolt clamps. Not all owners reported items missing.

Defrauding an innkeeper

LAURINBURG — Champs Fine Foods reported a customer refused to pay for a meal on July 16 and ran from officers.

Vehicle break-in

LAURINBURG — A resident of Long Leaf Drive reported a 2001 Honda was taken on July 17. Keys were left in the vehicle.

Break in

LAURINBURG — Resident of Isabel Street reported someone broke into their residence on July 17. Nothing was taken.

Stolen handgun

LAURINBURG — A male visiting a residence on Maple Street reported someone took a handgun from him on July 17. The gun was valued at $200.

Breaking and entering

LAURINBURG — A breaking and entering was reported by a resident on Avery Street on July 17. Damage to a side door was reported.

Larceny

LAURINBURG — A breaking and entering and larceny was reported on Wagram Street on July 17. The resident reported an air conditioner and a television worth approximately $1,000.

Armed robbery

LAURINBURG — An armed robbery was reported on Port Street on July 16. A PaPa John’s delivery driver said he was approached by two subjects armed with a handgun and wearing masks and took money from him. The driver was not injured.

Breaking and entering

LAURINBURG — A window was broken at a residence on Second Street during a breaking and entering on July 16.

Stolen cell phone

LAURINBURG — A 2002 Focus was broken into on Nichols Street. A cell phone was taken on July 16.

Stolen cell phone

LAURINBURG — A resident of West Boulevard reported a cell phone was stolen on July 15.

Arrests

LAURINBURG — Shaquan Legrand, 22, West End was arrested on July 16, for a home invasion on June 24 on Tara Drive. He was charged with larceny with a firearm, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was given a $30,000 secured bond.

LAURINBURG — Aldolfo Chagoy,30, Phoenix City, Alabama was charged with defrauding an innkeeper and resisting arrest. He was given a $1,000 secured bond.
